Event description
Join us for a talk by Mark Thomas from Goodhouse Architecture about this beautiful new home, followed by an opportunity to explore it and ask questions.
//About the Home
GH84 is a very efficient 198m2 home + double carport. It has 4 bedrooms, main with ensuite, family bathroom, generous laundry, open plan kitchen, living, dining with a walk-in pantry, a separate living space and a separate study.
It has a 22KL rainwater tank plumbed to the house, a 13KW solar system with an 11KW battery, hydronic underfloor heating/cooling.
The house is sited on the odd shaped block so as to minimise vehicular circulation on site and maximise usable outdoor living area. It has very good solar access to the living areas and main bedroom.
We would like to invite you to an information session that uses GH84 as an excellent example of efficient design and construction. Content covered will include:
Design approach to site
Design approach to an efficient floorplan
Passive solar design (summer, winter, equinox) and shading
The role of internal thermal mass
Efficient heating and cooling
The role of residential solar, battery systems, and EVs
Actual operational data
Efficient design and construction process
Efficient use of budget – where to spend the money
Q and A
//About GOODHOUSE
The GOODHOUSE architectural service is best described as concise and streamlined. We work with our clients to develop their specific brief, making sure to effectively communicate what is standard in our system in terms of design, integrated systems and selections.
Ultimately the efficiency of process delivers an efficient home; an economic use of space, low carbon footprint, and low operational energy consumption. The highly sealed and insulated building envelope has been pressure door tested and thermally analysed. Our data shows a passively maintained level of internal comfort and all energy and water requirements can be offset on site.
It is our aim to deliver a product that meets both our client’s practical needs as well as the GOODHOUSE energy efficiency standards, all within a time and predetermined budget framework that is both realistic and achievable.
We believe that GOODHOUSE is cutting a path towards a more environmentally appropriate and higher quality building stock in South Australia.
