Gordon Permablitz - May 2025
Event description
Come along and help our host Sarah to increase her food production on her large suburban block.
During this Blitz we will be establishing some wicking beds, setting up some backdoor veggie and herb gardens and possibly event putting in a lovely set of garden stairs through an existing garden.
Jobs will include:
- Preparing and setting up IBC wicking beds within structured garden beds
- Filling and planting a new garden bed that will allow herbs and vegies to be harvested without leaving the deck
- Creating a couple of creative beds, one octagon, one eye shaped around trees to plant decorative plants into
- building a set of retainer style steps down a steep existing bed to allow easy access to the bottom garden
- and of course, a bit of weeding
Sarah runs a small flower farm from her property so participants will also see how Sarah prepares her flower beds. As a thank you, you will also be able make a mothers day bouquet from some seasonal flowers to take home.
Children are welcome to participate. However please be aware that there are general hazards on the property, and children will need to be supervised across the day.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided by the host, so registration is essential for catering purposes. Please register a FREE ticket for each attendee (including children) and advise any dietary requirements.
What to bring:
- gardening gloves
- sun gear (hat, sunscreen, long sleeved shirt etc)
- covered shoes
- water bottle
Please note address details will be sent to registrants via email prior to the event.
