GOVERNANCE MATTERS is a series of 10 sessions on zoom presented by Carol Scholes of Overview Effect; each session has a different topic to do with governance matters. The series, which is FREE, and held in the early evenings, focuses on governance principles for boards or committees of NFP organisations in New Zealand.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions in these sessions as well.

Many volunteer members of committees or boards struggle to find the time to develop their skills in governance or have topics they would like to explore further but can’t devote a
whole or half day to attending a workshop. These workshops are designed to be delivered in 1-1.5-hour sessions on very specific topics. Participants can attend one or more as needed.

This first session on the difference between governance and management includes the following:

Governance is an important role in any organisation with clear responsibilities. And yet the most common question asked, is what the difference between governance and management is and how do we add value without upsetting our manager by attempting to do their role instead. Join us to discover what are the key roles of the board and how to keep out of management.
