Take advantage of a unique opportunity to access two complementary governance and leadership workshops in Northampton. Designed for volunteers and community leaders, the sessions combine practical learning, discussion and real-world problem-solving to support stronger not-for-profit organisations and community groups.

A registration for one workshop does not register you for the other. If you wish to attend both sessions, please ensure you select a ticket for each workshop.

Workshop 1 | Shire of Northampton Governance Training

Thursday 17 September 2026

This interactive workshop will provide community groups and clubs with an understanding of not-for-profit governance fundamentals and committee responsibilities.

Topics will include:

• Foundations of not-for-profit governance

• Roles and responsibilities of committee members

• Common challenges facing community groups

• Facilitated discussion and problem-solving on local issues such as volunteer recruitment, succession planning, collaboration opportunities, or other priorities identified by participating groups

The workshop will be tailored to the needs of local clubs and community organisations, providing practical discussion and solutions relevant to the Northampton community.

Workshop 2 | Governance Training: Board and Committee Development

Friday 18 September 2026

This practical, case study-based workshop will explore how to lead effectively through change, manage dynamic teams and volunteers, and make values-informed decisions in rural community settings.

Participants will gain practical tools and strategies to navigate complex leadership challenges, including managing difficult conversations with confidence and professionalism. Drawing on real-world examples and peer learning, the session will provide actionable insights that can be applied within local organisations and communities.

Who can attend

This activity is sponsored by CBH Group as part of its Community Investment Program and is open to anyone involved in not‑for‑profit groups beyond the agriculture sector, including school P&Cs, football and swimming club boards, RSLs, and regional community event committees.

Cost

Thanks to sponsorship from CBH Group, this training is available at no cost to both GGA Network members and regional not‑for‑profit community groups.

Workshop Sponsor Evaluation

As part of CBH Group’s governance and evaluation requirements for activities supported through its Community Investment Fund, participants will be asked to complete an evaluation at the conclusion of the workshop.

Participants may also be contacted at future intervals to support ongoing monitoring and measurement of program impact.

Completion of the evaluation process is a condition of registration. The evaluation link will be provided during the workshop.

Caroline is an enthusiastic advocate for rural communities and the leaders and organisations within them.

With a passion for assisting not-for-profits, government, and member-based institutions through governance and strategy, Caroline combines extensive experience with a broad-thinking, strategic approach to produce creative, people-centred solutions. Connecting the people, services and information rural organisations need to help them expand and thrive in their community.

Caroline is the founder and former CEO of the Wheatbelt Business Network, the region’s largest business association. She currently holds an EO position on the North Eastern Wheatbelt Regional Organisation of Councils and has also held board positions on state government boards, rural not-for-profits, sports clubs and the Regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry WA. In 2011 Caroline was awarded the Agrifutures National and WA Rural Woman of the Year, as well as the Shire of Narembeen Citizen of the Year in 2018.
