• The leadership role and guidance of the Council as a whole (and their performance)
• Setting of agenda, ensuring the Councill has sufficient information to deliberate the agenda
• Preserving the relationship between governance and management, and promoting positive boardroom culture – including respecting the separation of roles between governance and management
• Promoting positive culture and governance
• Public relations

3.  What are some of the responsibilities of the Council Chair inside the Boardroom?

• Maintaining mission and identity, and promoting positive boardroom culture
• Efficient chairing of meetings and setting of agenda

4.  What are some of the responsibilities of the Council Chair outside the Boardroom?

• A sounding board for the Principal, without interfering with management
• Visibility to stakeholders, and communicating on matters of governance
