Event description

Join us for a free 1 hour information session about the 2023 Greenprints Adventure.

Our speaker is Dr Michelle Maloney, creator and manager of AELA'S Greenprints Program.

WHAT IS THE GREENPRINTS ADVENTURE?

The “Greenprints Adventure” has been designed by AELA to enable interested community groups and organisations to work their way through the Greenprints Steps. The ‘adventure’ involves a 12-18 month program of events and activities, including a nationally coordinated online webinar and community-meet up series, together with in-kind support to host your own activities, events and research projects in your local community.

** Please note: This is a volunteer, peer-to-peer support program. For communities eligible to participate, there is no cost to do so but nor is there any funding to assist with projects. AELA provides extensive in-kind support (expertise and materials) and where appropriate, can collaborate in seeking external funding to support project activities in your community. Please join an information session to find out more and email us anytime if you have questions: greenprints@earthlaws.org.au

WHAT IS GREENPRINTS?

Greenprints is an Australian designed program that provides a practical, step-by-step approach to help people understand both the big picture and the small details, of how to create Earth-centred systems change, transform our societies and economies, and thrive within our ecological limits. It demystifies and connects the many existing concepts, models and methods that can be used to create sustainable and regenerative communities and organisations.

For more information about the overall Greenprints approach, please visit our website: www.greenprints.org.au

WHY USE THE GREENPRINTS APPROACH?

The outcomes for communities who work through the Greenprints approach can include (but are not limited to):

* building stronger communities and more effective community created solutions, by mapping, connecting and strengthening existing and emerging initiatives and organisations

*building greater community understandings of local ecosystems, catchments and bioregions (including current land use, biodiversity and climate change scenarios) so people are empowered to create transformations best suited for their region

*building community understandings of, and where appropriate, collaboration with, First Nations and Indigenous Peoples in the region

*identifying new projects, initiatives and enterprises, together with new ways to collaborate and new governance approaches, to accelerate a community’s transition to a regenerative society and economy

*collectively creating scenarios for local and bioregional futures, that a wide range of community groups and organisations can get behind and work towards. These ‘scenarios’ are important because they connect ecology, society and economies – eg by identifying alternative/regenerative land use options (local and bioregional scale), alternative regenerative economic activities and business opportunities and socially just, democratic decision-making processes.
