--------
Our discussions with Australian not-for-profits (NFPs) has shown that they are enthusiastic about adopting artificial intelligence (AI) to help them achieve their purpose, but hesitant due to the risks and insufficient readiness. As AI technologies like large language models (LLMs) are gaining in use in the corporate and public sectors, there are concerns in NFPs about being left behind.
In response, Gradient Institute will provide support including hosting a free, NFP-tailored responsible AI course for Australian NFPs and social enterprises. This is a starting point to equip these organisations with the knowledge to develop and/or use AI responsibly and boost the performance towards achieving their mission through ethical adoption of AI technologies.
The course will provide an introduction to socially responsible AI, including:
- How AI systems work
- Capabilities of AI and what’s different about LLMs
- Opportunities of AI for NFPsÂ
- Strategies towards safe and responsible application of AI
This course is suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences. No prior knowledge of AI or machine learning (ML) is required for attendance.
Note: More specialised free courses will be offered at later dates for NFP staff wanting to go deeper into technical or governance aspects of the development and use of AI.
