This symposium aims to profile research into the complex identities of young people, acknowledging how race, gender, and sexuality and other aspects of a young person’s identity interact to contribute to their unique life experiences. The focus of this symposium is to understand the diverse needs and experiences of today’s young people. Inclusivity is essential in creating effective strategies for youth development. This symposium provides an opportunity to share the latest research on recognising diversity and the multifaceted nature of identities, highlighting the importance of understanding how intersectionality impacts young people’s experiences. Through promoting inclusivity, the sector can ensure that every young person feels valued, respected, and has the agency to thrive and contribute positively to society.
