GRANDPAS BOOK CLUB
Event description
As a young artist navigating the digital world, I’ve always understood the challenge of making meaningful connections with other creative people. That’s why I started the Grandpa’s Book Club Literary Salon—a space to bring people together through books that have shaped my adult life.
These are one-off events designed to connect you with new people. The connections you build within the salon will percolate beyond the walls.
Held monthly in bars, galleries, and bookshops across Melbourne, the salon is more than just a book club. It’s an experience—an evening of conversation, good food, and great company in a setting designed to engage the senses.
For our first gathering, we’re reading Eva Baltasar’s Boulder—a sharp, poetic novel about solitude, desire, and the tension between freedom and connection. We’ll unpack its themes together in a welcoming, open space that’s all about the vibe.
I’ll announce the book pick, dates, and location each month on my Instagram. The in-person gatherings will be intimate and carefully curated, with a maximum of 25 tickets available per event. Ticket prices will vary depending on the venue, food, and drinks for the evening. While I know this means some people may miss out each month, I believe in keeping the experience personal, creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts, meeting new people, and enjoying the discussion without feeling overwhelmed.
What’s Included:
- A copy of Boulder by Eva Baltasar, delivered to your door, supporting a local independent bookshop.
- Entry to the in-person book club event on May 30th.
- Wine and nibbles on the night.
- Access to an ongoing online chat, discussion prompts, and a rolling conversation to keep the connection alive between events.
If you’re looking for a space to connect, think critically, and experience books in a new way, I’d love for you to be part of it.
