Gravity Duality
Event description
Gravity Duality
A double bill by InPlay Projects & Creeping Cat
Choreographed by Alec Katsourakis & Joseph Newton Keogh.
Two 20-minute contemporary dance works that dive into our relationship with gravity — how it grounds us and how we fight it.
'Satal' is primarily on the floor, squirming, rolling and fighting within gravities pull. 'The Ballad of Bouncing Back' contrasts by being all up in the air, jumping, bouncing and trying to escape gravity.

Unspecified alien DNA finds its way into a human, causing alien mutation. As the mutation progressively spreads and takes over the DNA, humans' bodies and minds physically and behaviourally change. They first lose their ability to walk, then tend to slide, twist, and contort in monstrous flows on the floor. Once the mutation has completely taken over, it moulds into something truly unintelligible.
The Ballad of Bouncing Back by InPlay Projects
Choreographer: Alec Katsourakis
The premise is simple yet relentless: a group of dancers must not stop jumping, bouncing or playing ball games for the entirety of the piece. It highlights the joy and struggle of pushing past limits, the unpredictable nature of live performance, and the exhilaration of bodies in continuous motion. The work asks what it's like to bounce back, again, and again, and again, and again....
