Great Aussie Crab Pot Review: Industry Roundtable

Collaborating on Solutions for Reducing Lost and Abandoned Crab Pots 

We're inviting manufacturing and retail industry representatives to join us for an insightful roundtable discussion on addressing the issue of lost, abandoned, or discarded crab pots in Australian waterways. 

What to Expect: 

During this roundtable, we will present the findings from our Great Aussie Crab Pot Review Survey, which gathered over 320 responses from recreational fishers and waterway users across Australia. We’ll also share the outcomes from our first roundtable discussion with community members, highlighting their concerns and proposed solutions to this growing issue. 

We’ll delve into: 

• Key insights and suggested solutions from the community regarding abandoned, lost, or discarded crab pots. 

• Industry perspectives on these solutions and the pathways or barriers to their implementation. 

• Opportunities for manufacturers and retailers to contribute to more sustainable practices in the crabbing industry. 

This event will be an open conversation where we work together to explore the most effective solutions, considering both community feedback and industry capabilities. The outcomes of this discussion will feed into our third roundtable with policy makers, ensuring that the perspectives from industry stakeholders are part of the broader solution framework.
