Sat, 7 Nov, 10:30am - 12:30pm AWST

Description

The Great Global Mend is Australia’s biggest simultaneous repair event, bringing together hundreds of people across the country to mend something at the very same moment. This year, participants will be aiming to break the 2025 record of 298 menders repairing textiles simultaneously.

The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale and Switch Your Thinking are proud to be taking part in this national event.

You don’t need any sewing experience to join in. Experienced menders will be there to help you repair your item from scratch, whether that’s sewing on a button, patching a hole with a FabPatch, fixing a hem or learning a simple repair technique.

Bring along an item of clothing or textile that needs some attention. If you have a basic hand-sewing kit, feel free to bring it with you, but don’t worry if you don’t — materials and equipment will be available.

Places are limited and registrations are essential.

Morning tea will be provided.

About the Great Global Mend

The Great Global Mend is a national community event presented by FabPatch and Care to Rewear, bringing people together to repair and mend clothing and textiles.

At the heart of the event is a simultaneous mass-mending moment, where participants across multiple locations begin mending at exactly the same time.

The event celebrates community, creativity and circular fashion, helping people extend the life of their clothing, build confidence in repair skills and take practical action to reduce textile waste.

In 2025, participants across 15 venues joined the shared mending moment. This year, the aim is to make the event even bigger.

By taking part, you can:

  • Reduce textile waste by extending the life of clothing and other textile items.

  • Learn practical repair skills, from basic sewing and patching to creative mending.

  • Support repair, reuse and circular economy principles.

  • Connect with people of different ages, backgrounds and skill levels.

  • Share skills, ideas and knowledge with others in the community.

  • Be part of a growing national movement that puts repair before replacement.

Be part of a record-breaking event and help show how simple local actions can contribute to a bigger collective impact.

Together, we can keep textiles in use for longer, preserve valuable repair skills and make repair a normal part of everyday life.

Please note: If you have already registered through Eventbrite, you do not need to register again.
