Great Southern Bioblitz Bird Walk

Join Peter Gelding an experienced Birder and take a leisurely stroll adjacent to Opossum Creek, in Brookwater to spot birds and other wildlife. There are over 52 species of birds that are often heard and seen along the Louise Clews Walkway, from Whipbirds, Bronze Fan-tailed Cuckoos, Eastern Yellow Robins, Spangled Drongos, & Golden Whistlers just to name a few. Each attendee will receive a Birds of Greater Springfield Booklet included in the cost of your ticket & morning tea (muffins, fruit, tea or coffee).

We will also be uploading any photographs of plants, birds or animals sighted onto iNaturalist, a free app to help us record the biodiversity of Opossum Creek Parklands as part of the 4 day Great Southern Bioblitz (GSB2024)  event that is being held in countries in the southern hemisphere.  If you would like to be part of the GSB & upload your photos to be included, please download the iNaturalist app & join the Great Southern Bioblitz project folder to add your photos. This folder is currently available for you to join, but you won't be able to add photos until the start of the Bioblitz on September 20th.  All photos taken on Smart phone or camera will need to be taken in the Ipswich local government area. You can take photos in other areas that are participating in the bio-blitz but you will need to join each respective project folder to enable your images to be included. Please click the link below to join the Ipswich area project.   You can still attend the birdwalk even if you don't want to add photos to the  iNaturalist GSB2024 project.
