Great Southern BioBlitz - Nature Walk & Species Observation

Corowa District Landcare is excited to be part of the Great Southern BioBlitz again in 2024. 

The Great Southern BioBlitz is a “blitz” on nature, aiming to record all living species across the Southern Hemisphere in Spring. It’s a great way to connect to nature, collect environmental data from our region, be a citizen scientist, and have fun!

As part of the Great Southern BioBlitz, Corowa District Landcare invites you to join us for a BioBlitz nature walk and species observation session at the River Street Wetlands in Corowa.

• Explore, observe and record living things at the wetlands - plants, animals, insects, fungi and footprints!
• Contribute to local conservation efforts
• Spend time outdoors connecting to your local natural environment
• For the kids – have a go at a nature scavenger hunt (~ages 3 to 7)
• No experience necessary – everyone is welcome

During the session we’ll be entering our findings into the iNaturalist nature database app. If you have a smartphone and would like to get involved in recording observations at the wetlands we encourage you to bring your phone with the iNaturalist app downloaded and logged in, however this is not compulsory. We'll be using Corowa District Landcare's iNaturalist project "Great Southern BioBlitz 2024: Federation NSW".

What to bring:

• Hat 
• Boots/sturdy enclosed footwear
• Insect repellent
• Sunscreen
• Water bottle
• Smartphone (optional)

Please bring a picnic lunch and chair if you’d like to stay after the session and have a chat and catch up with other participants.
