Greater Swan Hill - Housing Forum

The shortage of housing in rural and regional Victoria poses a critical challenge.

The situation is even more pressing for the Swan Hill municipality because of growth in agriculture, manufacturing, education, health and potential mining jobs that are not being filled because people are unable to move to the area to take up these roles due to the housing shortage.

Around 120 people met on 20th November last year to discuss the problems but, more importantly, to consider ideas to create solutions together, as a community.

As a result of ideas suggested at this gathering, Council is proposing to establish a group called Housing Action: Greater Swan Hill.
