Green Drinks - Anthroposophy and the Environment
Description
This month, Green Drinks welcomes Jacqueline Campbell, Community Engagement Manager at Hōhepa Canterbury, for a thought-provoking kōrero about community, sustainability, and our connection with the natural world.
Hōhepa Canterbury supports more than 180 people with intellectual disabilities across Ōtautahi and is guided by the principles of anthroposophy, a philosophy that encourages a deeper understanding of the relationship between people, nature, and community. Jacqueline will share how these values shape everyday life at Hōhepa and influence decision-making across the organisation.
This kōrero will explore how philosophy translates into practical action, including Hōhepa's campus development projects, policies to encourage cycling, sustainable fleet management, recycling initiatives, clothing swaps, environmentally conscious products, ongoing staff education, and a focus on nutrition and wellbeing. Together, these initiatives demonstrate how environmental responsibility, social inclusion, and community care can be woven into daily practice.
Whether you're interested in sustainability, inclusive communities, organisational change, or alternative approaches to wellbeing, this promises to be an engaging evening that offers fresh perspectives on how we can live and work more consciously together.
