UTS Algal Phenomics Facility Launch and Green Genie Preview
Event description
Climate change is pushing researchers and engineers alike to find scale-solutions to this global problem. UTS is proud to be at the forefront of innovation to reduce carbon emissions with the launch of Green Genie and the UTS Algal Phenomics Facility.
A modular "plug and play" unit, Green Genie
fits into a standard six-metre shipping container for direct air carbon capture, wastewater treatment and algae biomass production that is affordable, effective, fast, and scalable. At full capacity, Green Genie is expected to capture up to 7 tonnes of carbon a year; and provides a scale-solution to create algae-based products including plastics, food, and feed.
UTS Algal Phenomics Facility – a global first – can rapidly screen, test, evolve and characterise algae to optimise their potential for developing new products, accelerate production and innovate sustainable biology. It creates enormous possibility to improve both the bottom line and sustainability of organisations, ranging from start-ups to multi nationals and from government to non-profit and environmental groups.
Join us as we launch these exciting innovations and hear from the teams behind these world-firsts. Attendees will have the opportunity to take a guided tour through the UTS Algal Phenomics Facility and see the research in action.
Please wear closed-toe shoes for a tour of the facility.
