Green Impact 2024: Launch
Event description
Make a real difference to your planet, people and our community! Join Green Impact, the University wide sustainability challenge for staff and students in 2024.Â
Register to attend our launch event where we will introduce interested teams to the 2024 program, walk you through the toolkit platform, hear from past participants and get you started on your Green Impact journey.
Green Impact is a sustainability team program where you can make sustainable changes to our campuses and beyond! Teams work through a toolkit of sustainable actions, making sustainability easy and fun to do. Participants work at their own pace and teams are encouraged to do as many actions as they can do - with no minimum requirements. The toolkit and team registrations will open at the launch and the toolkit and competition will close on Thursday 21st August 2024. Covering all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the actions you can complete are diverse, for example:
- Recycling right. The team pull together some information on recycling to minimise contamination.Â
- Buy Fairtrade. All tea, coffee and sugar bought by the department/student society/school is Fairtrade and/or the department has actively encouraged staff to purchase Fairtrade tea and coffee
- Reusable investment. The team will purchase a reusable item/s for use all year long at events or meetings.
- Take a break. Actively encourage Staff and students to take breaks throughout the day – this can include a brisk walk around the block or a team tea (5 minutes break over a cuppa
- Active Travel. At least 50% of the team uses active travel to campus – includes but not limited to; walking, scooter, bicycle, skateboard.
- Wildcard Entry – Team set up systems to divert clinical trials waste from landfill, sending them to reuse organisation MedEarth instead.
This event will be run as a hybrid event, with an in person option held in Auditorium 1, F23 Michael Spence Building, Camperdown Campus. There will be light refreshments served at the in person event.
