Grief And Gratitude
Event description
A night of community connection through the portal of poetry, a holistic approach to connecting with our divine presence through engaging our authentic senses, gifting ourselves the permission to feel to write from them wholeheartedly writing from them as inspiration.
This is a space to feel completely held, safe, supported, and guided to write poetry in liberation of your writing journey
The theme Grief and Gratitude is inspired by the fact that:
So often in our society grief is a multilayered emotion not always given the permission to be felt and held, and over time it gets stored in the subconscious mind, poetry is the portal to open a beautiful and bold space of all the little and big things we have forgotten to grieve or didn't know how to!
So often grief and celebration are dear friends that get separated in thinking grief is deemed "good or bad". to grieve something is to know you were brave enough to endeavour to love what you could not control.
Gratitude is the space we come to through the acceptance of all that has been, all that is and all that is becoming and out of all the modalities poetry is the galactic gateway to understanding the beauty of all of it.
Now you may be wondering what the evening may entail...
- a check-in ( name and intention for the evening)
- some art to lubricate our writing senses
- free flow writing exercise, creating space for us to get out of our heads and into our intrinsic bodies to write
- A series of writing exercises, writing from and using the stimulus from the world around us to draw from our inspiration to write, connecting with our senses, touch, smell, taste, see, feel, and hear.
- flower meditation and connection
- time of honoring of our words
- an optional time to share the poems you have created to the group and have the experience of being heard through your beautiful and unique language being a gift to others.
- quick checkout and time for you to share your findings
- snacks
I believe inspiration and creativity comes when we are walking poetry in motion, living in the world, letting life move us, being present, and the pleasures and sensations of being human, in romance with life.
this night's intention is all about having a fun and feeling it all, the good the bad and the ugly is all welcomed.
I would like to emphasise that no prior experience is needed, nor calling yourself a poet or writer to attend, we are all poets and writers whether you have shared your writing with others or not, and we do not need to classify ourselves as such to simply write what our hearts desire to share, the act of being human.
What to bring
A collection of flowers, store bought or wild caught
1 object you'd like to gift to the alter and the space that you don't mind keeping
journal and pen
a cup for tea
a pillow to sit on
A little bit about your facilitator Bella Abraham

Her passions emanate from a calling to connect people back to their creative portals through the magic mysticism and spell casting of poems, to inspire our hearts to return back to our mother tongue's innate language of art.
Bella has written and shared her poetry for the last 8 years, within this time she has hosted a series of open mic/ poetry slams, and run creative writing and poetry workshops for different art groups, including working with groups of children, young adults on the Autism spectrum and NDIS clients, elderly folk, humans from all walks of life, teaching them how to self-regulate and tap into the beautiful subconscious mind through the power of writing. Bella has hosted a series of poetry workshops and shared her spoken word artistry at alternative art festivals all around Australia and NZ over the last 4 years, including performing at the Sydney Opera House as a QLD finalist in the (APS) Australian Poetry competing for her state.
Her writing fully encapsulates the existing aches of the heart and dilemmas of the mind, she shares the full-encumbered compass of what it means to be human and all the marvelous vulnerabilities that come with it. She writes in tones of dreams, in hopes for tomorrow's tea thoughts. Poetry is her passion and she is delighted to share this art form and how it can be a way of holistically living with you
She also runs 1 on 1, online, and in-person creative tutoring and guidance sessions for those who wish to connect more with their creative art and writing, learning how to refine their skill and artistry of it, whilst gaining confidence in their creative selves.
