Event description

Grossmann House was built in 1870-71 by the merchant Isaac Beckett. It adjoins Brough House, built as a mirror image by Beckett’s business partner, Samuel Owen.

Between 1892 and 1963, the building housed Maitland Girls’ High School, one of the first four public high schools established in New South Wales. Some changes were made to the property to accommodate the School, but in recent years the National Trust has restored the house to reflect the status and era of its Victorian owners.

Now the House opens up for us to explore and investigate to see if the owners remain or whether it is haunted by any of the school girls who feel it  is their job to make sure that they are still having some fun in the building.

We have heard footsteps, seen dark shadows, captured voices on EVPS and had the spirits playing with paranormal equipment.

Come and find out for yourself whether Grossman House and its next door neighbour, Brough House remain haunted by their previous occupants.

Both houses will be open and you will be spending time during the investigations in each.

Which one is more haunted?

We will let you work that out.

You will be involved in vigils, spirit box sessions, trigger experiments and more.

This is our final Grossman House tour for 2024 with start time at 8pm and finish at 10pm.

This is for ages over 16 years.

This event will be going ahead pending no lockdown rain, hail or shine.
