Grounded and Spacious, Earth and Sky: A Women’s Mindfulness Retreat in Nature with Anne Cushman
Event description
This is the registration page for Off-Grid Retreats' Grounded and Spacious, Earth and Sky: A Women’s Mindfulness Retreat in Nature. In the spring, Anne Cushman will lead this women’s silent meditation & yoga retreat at Whispertree Retreat Center. To view the full retreat description, please click HERE.
The Buddha asked that the teaching of the Dharma be offered freely, without charge, since it is of infinite value, and beyond any price that could be put on it. In this spirit, our retreat tickets just cover the basic costs of putting on the retreat: food, retreat center fee, administration costs, and other incidental expenses. And we offer our retreat tickets on a sliding scale (based on the lodging you choose) to allow each participant to pay for what is most appropriate for themselves.
Please note that this ticket does NOT include compensation for Anne Cushman for teaching the retreat or for Off-Grid Retreats for organizing it. On the final retreat day, you will be invited to share dana (AKA to donate) to the Retreat Teacher and to Off-Grid Retreats.
This tradition of ‘Dana,’ or mutual giving, has supported Buddhist cultures for 2500 years. In Asia, the monks and nuns offer the teaching and the lay people support the monastery and fill the monks’ begging bowls each morning as they walk through the village on alms rounds. It is a beautiful exchange in which the hearts of both giver and receiver are opened in joy and gratitude and love flows between them.
There are glamping spaces and rooms indoors both of which have single and shared (up to 2 people per room/tent) options. If you select one of our shared lodging options and would like to share it with a specific registrant, you'll be able to note their name later on in the registration process.
Each retreat ticket / lodging option includes vegetarian meals (with simple substitutes for participants with dietary allergies) and access to Whispertree Retreat Center as a whole, consisting of 6 miles of hiking trails, creeks, a swimming pond, redwood hot tub, and indoor gathering areas for yoga and rest.
