Sun, 18 Oct, 3pm - 5pm BST

Description

Come along to this group forest bathing session held in a beautiful public woodland between Bath and Chippenham, for a chance to rest and unwind as we come into the Autumn season. Expect nature connection practices, meaningful conversations and welcoming space to relax and reflect.

No experience of forest bathing or mindfulness practices needed - everyone is welcome!

This is a pay-as-you-feel session, which aims to make this wellness practice as accessible as possible. You can decide what price feels right for you; no evidence will be required. See more information on pricing below.

Please note that as this is an accessible session, it will be run in a public woodland so that we don’t make a financial loss. It is reasonably quiet here, but we cannot promise uninterrupted peace as in our other sessions in private woodlands.

Also please note that there are no toilets on site. Wild wees encouraged!

For more information on what to expect, please see FAQs and the information on our website.

Cost and Pricing

We use The Green Bottle Sliding Scale for our pay-as-you-feel sessions. We want wellbeing activities and nature connection to be accessible to all - not just those who are typically found in these spaces. All are truly welcome in the forest. Whatever price you pay, you will have the same warm welcome to forest bathing; no evidence of your choice will be required.

Take a look at the scale and consider where you are at right now.

£16 = I am able to meet all my basic needs (I.e housing, food, bills) without any stress. I’m employed and have access to financial savings.

£10 = I sometimes stress about meeting my basic needs, but often achieve them. I am employed and have access to some expendable income. I might have some debt but it doesn’t prevent me meeting my basic needs.

£2 = I struggle to meet my basic needs, have debt, am unemployed or underemployed and/or experiencing housing instability. I qualify for government assistance.

By paying a higher price you are supporting someone else to experience the benefits of forest bathing. Thank you for working with us to make wellbeing practices more accessible to all!

FAQs

  • What is Forest Therapy?

Forest therapy, otherwise known as forest bathing or shinrin-yoku, is an evidence-based practice, originating in Japan, that boosts both our physical and mental health. It involves a slow, gentle walk through a natural space, with invitations from the guide offering opportunities to deepen our connection with nature. Whether 1:1, or as part of a group, forest therapy sessions are a space away from the pressures of the modern world to relax, reset and ground ourselves.

  • What are the benefits of forest therapy?

Forest therapy has a wide range of scientifically-evidenced benefits for both our physical and mental health. This deep connection to nature reduces stress, blood pressure and boosts our immune system, offering preventative effects for a range of diseases including cancer. Evidence also shows that forest therapy can support a decrease in symptoms of anxiety, depression and PTSD. When we relax and breathe in the forest, the very chemicals released by the trees and the microbes in the soil have truly healing effects on the human body and brain - we just need to connect with them.

Have a look at our website for more detail.

  • What can I expect from this session?

The session consists of a series of invitations offered by your qualified guide, that promote a deeper and more embodied connection to nature. Some invite you to be still, and some involve gentle movement. Forest bathing is not intended to be exercise, and all sessions can be designed to suit different physical health needs.

We will come together in a calm and non-judgemental sharing circle to reflect on our experiences - although it is okay not to share if that doesn't feel right for you. The session finishes with a tea as we discuss any final reflections.

Whilst there is no expectation to feel a certain way during or after a session, past participants report feeling calm and destressed, and found the space hugely beneficial to reflect on their own personal nature connection and various aspects of their lives. Check out our reviews on Instagram!
