Event description

Want to grow your own fresh herbs or nutrient-packed microgreens, even without a garden? This beginner-friendly class will show you just how easy and rewarding it is to start your own mini edible garden—right from your windowsill, balcony, or kitchen counter. Whether you’re living in an apartment or have a backyard, you’ll leave inspired to add fresh flavour and nutrition to your meals with homegrown greens!

What will we cover?

  • What are herbs & microgreens and why grow them?

  • The easiest herbs and greens to start with in Australia

  • How to grow in small spaces (window, kitchen bench, balcony)

  • Watering, light, and care basics

  • How and when to harvest

  • Troubleshooting common problems

  • Bonus: Composting and reusing kitchen scraps to feed your plants!

What will you need?

(No need to bring anything to class, but if you want to start at home later, here's what you'll need!)

  • A small pot, recycled container, or tray

  • Good-quality potting mix or seed-raising mix

  • Herb seeds (basil, mint, parsley, etc.) or microgreen seeds (radish, mustard, pea shoots)
