Event description

Join us for our annual Community Apple Juicing Day on Sunday May 11th (Mother's Day!) in Castlemaine.

What to expect:

  • A fun day to connect with community and enjoy local produce
  • Learn how to press apples into delicious juice using a low-tech, human-powered press
  • Apple juice to take home and enjoy fresh, or make into cider/vinegar!
  • An accessible and welcoming environment suitable for children of any age
  • A shared lunch (contributions would be so appreciated!

To be held this year in the Hub Garden in Castlemaine, the Community Apple Juicing Day will start with a light lunch (some vegetarian and gluten free food provided, please bring some to share!) and then lead into the exciting stuff - chopping, mulching and pressing our gorgeous local apples into fresh juice.

Come for part of the day or the whole thing. All are welcome, children included. Please leave dogs at home.
The site is largely wheelchair accessible, though the toilet is not (note also that the garden, where most of the activity will be taking place, is lawn). Accessible toilets are available around the corner on Lyttleton Street, next to the Post Office.

Please bring:

  • Clean bottles to take your juice home (and some to share if you have spare - Passata, glass juice pottles and screw-top wine bottles are all great vessels.
  • A knife and chopping board
  • A teatowel and/or apron
  • Some food to share if you are able
  • A plate, mug and cutlery for lunch
  • A friend, your mum for Mothers Day, your child/ren, your chosen family, etc!

We so look forward to sharing this fun day with you and hope you can make it. Please get in touch with any questions via growingabundance@cch.org.au

This event will take place on Djaara Country, the traditional lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung. We wish to pay our respects to Djaara Ancestors, Elders past and present, and to the Djaara community whose continual custodianship of this Country plays an integral and foundational role in the life of this nation. Sovereignty was never ceded, this always was and always will be Aboriginal Land.
