Description

Successful research needs a good idea, the right partners, and strategic use of available resources. This workshop explores how early-stage collaborations and small-scale project ideas can be developed into high-impact, externally funded research.

Through two case studies drawn from the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) disciplines—one featuring an ECR and the other an MCR— the session will highlight how to initiate and nurture productive partnerships with industry and other external stakeholders, and how these relationships can help shape and refine research ideas. Participants will also learn how to position small-scale or seed-funded projects as credible foundations for major funding applications by aligning partners’ needs, innovative project ideas, researcher expertise, and funding priorities.

Whether you're at the start of a research idea or looking to elevate existing work to a competitive national level, this workshop offers practical strategies for building enduring partnerships, developing fundable concepts, and scaling your research funding pathway with purpose.
