Growing Veggies Organically: 6 Part Course
Event description
This Permaculture based course will be in Monbulk and at Belgrave Food Garden and will consist of 6 workshops - please take note of the dates and times listed below.
Facilitated by Jane Coleman from Earth & Soul Permaculture.
You will receive seeds, planting equipment (seed raising mix on relevant workshop days, plant labels, pen, mini hothouse), a booklet of notes, two tours of local permaculture properties, heaps of fun and sharing stories and knowledge with likeminded people.
Growing from Seed - Sunday August 17th 10am-12pm
You will be planting seeds, learning and talking about seed saving, heirloom seed plus lots more
Soils and Composting - Sunday September 7th 10am-12pm
We will talk about soils, manures, composting and build a hot compost pile together as a group.
Seasonal Planting and Crop Rotation - Sunday September 28th 10am-12pm
What to grow and when, succession planting and Crop Rotation - Organic growing depends on healthy soils/eco system and diversity.
Raising Seedlings and Planting out - Sunday October 19th 10am-12pm
How to care for your seedlings, when to ‘pot on’, when to plant out, plus more
Beneficial Bugs and Plants - Sunday 16th November 10am-1pm
Pollinators, natural pest predators, companion plants. We will also talk about mulches including living mulch, nitrogen fixing plants throughout the course. Tour of What the F’arm in Monbulk, see Permaculture in action.
Organic Pest Control - Sunday December 7th 10am-1pm
Organic growing without using nasty sprays. This workshop is all about biodiversity, ecosystems plus heaps more, we touch on our journey through the course. Then it’s off to the second and final tour of a lovely 1/2acre permaculture property in Monbulk.
