Growling Grass Frogs in the Yarra Valley 🐸

The Growling Grass Frog is a relatively large frog with an impressive call, once heard never forgotten! This frog was common across Victoria but it's range has contracted over the last 20 years. We want to understand how it is persisting in the Yarra Valley and we need your help. Come along to learn all about habitat preferences for the species and how to go about listening out for them.

Hear from ecologist David De Angelis as he reveals more about this fascinating frog as well as some of the more usual frogs that you would expect to find in this part of the Yarra Valley.

We will provide supper and lead a guided walk nearby, for those keen to get some field experience listening and recording frogs. The frog Census App is a great way to start monitoring biodiversity on your property.

• Comfortable outdoor clothing, long sleeves advised, and enclosed sturdy shoes. Please check weather forecast in lead up to the event and dress for the weather. The event will still go ahead if raining 💧

• Torch or headlamp for evening spotting

Please note: Children over 5 years of age are more than welcome to attend but some of the content will be more suited to an adult audience. Children under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. We will be walking approximately 1 km. In the event of extreme weather the event may be cancelled.
