GSA talk: Sea-level control on deposition - a new interpretation of the Narrabeen Group, Sydney Basin
East Maitland Bowling Club, Scarborough Room 3
East Maitland NSW, Australia
Event description
Come along to hear distinguished Sydney Basin geologist Chris Herbert talk about his latest take on the sedimentology of the Narrabeen Group. Basic building blocks of this group are repetitive sedimentary intervals about 5 to 10m thick that are regarded as high-frequency 4th order sequences. Using sequence stratigraphy, gamma and neutron geophysical logs and data from an extensive fully cored coal exploration drilling program near the Central Coast, Chris has refined the environments and history of deposition of the sequence.
You're invited to dinner at The Bank Hotel after the talk.
