Event description

The walk will take you along the wooded slope of the hill with occasional views towards the Arboretum and surrounding paddocks in the valley beyond. You can expect to see 20-30 species ranging from the smallest birds, like Weebills and Thornbills, through to the largest, maybe even our local pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles. The walk will be led by Nicki Taws, a birdo with many years’ experience and a marvellous ability to detect and identify the quietest bird calls and find many one would otherwise miss.

Meet at the reserve entrance on the city-bound side of William Hovell Drive, 1km from the intersection with Coulter Drive. Park on the verge just beyond the big, electronic overhead sign. Look out for red balloons. If you have reached the powerlines that cross the road, you have gone a bit too far.

If you find you cannot attend, please let us know at friends.of.mount.painter@gmail.com

so we can offer your place to someone else. Numbers are limited to 25.
