ABOUT THE HISTORY TOUR
The Esplanade Association's free Guided History Tours will walk participants through the fascinating history of the Esplanade. Our guided tours last about an hour-and-a-half and cover about a mile of the Esplanade and over 150 years of history!
Your suggested donation of $10 would support the Esplanade Association's work to revitalize, enhance, program and maintain the Charles River Esplanade. Thank you!

In the event of extreme weather or other hazardous conditions, the Esplanade Association will email all participants and post a cancellation notice. Please follow our social media accounts Twitter (@EsplanadeBoston)/ Facebook page (@EsplanadeBoston) / Instagram (@EsplanadeInBoston) to keep up to date about potential cancellations.
LOCATION
Directions to Community Boating, Inc:
Cross the Fanny Appleton Footbridge. Look for the boathouse at the end of the footbridge. We'll meet near the big sailboat out front.
***Please note that there is no public parking on the Esplanade and vehicles are not permitted in the park***
Walking: If entering by foot, you can take one of many footbridges to enter the park. They are all noted on this map. Community Boating is closest to the Fanny Appleton Footbridge which is located near the Charles MGH (Red Line) MBTA Station!
MBTA: Community Boating is a 5 minute walk from the Charles MGH (Red Line) MBTA Station. Find all of the nearby stations on this map.
Blue Bikes: Pick up a Bluebike at any station around Boston, Brookline, Cambridge and Somerville and return to a station located conveniently near the Hatch Shell. Find locations on the System Map or mobile app.
Parking
Recommended parking location nearby is the Mass Eye & Ear Parking Lot
Rideshare
Please direct rideshare vehicles to drop you off on Cambridge Street or Charles Street. The Whitney Hotel is a good reference spot. Once you’ve been dropped off, enter the park on foot via the Fanny Appleton Footbridge.
