Habibi Gün is a psychedelic maqam collective featuring leading performers of Arabic music in New York City. The group reimagines works by classical Arab composers like Riyad al-Sunbati and Mohammed Fawzi, blending them with Western influences including Ennio Morricone, Link Wray, and that late, great Lebanese-American, Dick Dale. The resulting listening experience is sprawling and evocative—stark and contemplative one moment, abandoned and trance-inducing the next. Through extended improvisation and deep respect for maqam traditions, they create an immersive, cinematic sound where Arab musical heritage meets psychedelic exploration.
