Habit #6: Talk Openly About Emotions and Mental Health
Description
Habit 6 focuses on making conversations about emotions and mental health a normal and supported part of family life.
Designed for parents and carers of students in Years 4 to 12, this session explores how regular, low-pressure check-ins can strengthen connection and reduce stigma around mental health. Parents will consider how their language, responses and routines shape a young person’s willingness to share.
Led by The Wellbeing Distillery, the workshop introduces practical tools such as simple check-in frameworks, gratitude language and conversation starters that invite openness and honesty without pressure.
Parents will leave with practical strategies to support emotional literacy at home and create safe, supportive spaces for ongoing conversations about wellbeing and mental health.
