Hackathon - Queenstown

Step into the future at the Queenstown Lakes Hackathon — a weekend dedicated to creativity, innovation, and community. Hosted by The Workshop on Glenda Drive, this event brings together Queenstown’s vibrant tech community for the end of ski season Game Jam.

Over two days, join forces in small teams (3-5 people) to design and build a software or physical game.

The challenge: collaborate, create, and compete for glory! Whether you’re a seasoned developer, an aspiring game designer, or a curious student (ages 12+), this is your chance to learn new skills, meet fellow innovators, and build with other locals in the community.

We'll be assigning teams to combine skillsets and so you can meet and work with people in Queenstown who you've never worked with before.

No experience in coding or game design required, just a willingness to share your ideas and build with others.

Event Details

• Dates: 11th–12th October

  • Saturday, 10am–late

  • Sunday, 10am–6pm (Showcase at 2pm, Prizes at 4pm)

• Venue: The Workshop, Glenda Drive, Queenstown

• Team Size: 3-5 people (Bring your skills and enthusiasm, we will help you form teams)

• Ages: 12+ and up

• Max Attendees: 30 participants

• Entry Fee: $50 per person

• Meals Included: Lunch and dinner Saturday, lunch Sunday
