International Medical Mission Information Session 🌏 | Halad To Health
Event description
ABOUT HALAD TO HEALTH
Halad to Health Foundation Philippines is a not-for-profit charity organisation closing critical gaps in global health inequality starting with the disadvantaged youth in Mindanao (southern islands of the Philippines). In country, we run international volunteer medical missions, provide free and accessible health education and services and build mental health #SafeSpaces, where young Filipinos can access free counselling, across the most in-need schools and public venues.
For international volunteers joining our mission trips, this is an experience of a lifetime!
The Provincial Government of Bukidnon is looking forward to selecting students and aspiring medical professionals to join a handful of their doctors to deliver free medical procedures and check ups for some of the most disadvantaged far-flung communities. You will be learning everyday, hands on and mentored through every step through the condensed medical mission week. To round off the experience, you'll also be invited to shadow at the 2-4 main hospitals in the second week and support the Provincial Health Governor on reporting back the current state realities of pathways for locals to accessing healthcare services.
Halad to Health also runs a not-for-profit GAMSAT tuition and medical interview preparation tuition services, where all funds raised go towards the Halad to Health Foundation Philippines. Across all our services, we believe in mentoring the future doctors and health professionals to have a global and real perspective of health inequalities across the world as they embark on health careers.
‘Halad’ means an ‘offering’ in the local Philippines dialect, so we choose to offer the opportunity to good health for all where we can.
ABOUT OUR MEDICAL MISSIONS
We run both health education and medical missions to give disadvantaged people in rural Philippines access to preventative healthcare education and services, which they otherwise may not otherwise receive. At the same time, we have designed this program to be an invaluable learning experience for our international volunteers who have access to a range of healthcare settings from clinical delivery, public health policy and healthcare education campaigns.
During the two weeks, volunteer participants will undergo an intensive medical bootcamp where they are fully oriented by local officials on the health concerns and priorities in the community. Participants will then have the opportunity to experience how clinical healthcare is delivered in a rural setting with limited access to a reliable source of electricity, internet, medical resources and, at times, staff.
After 3 long years of COVID and travel restrictions, we are now finally able to relaunch our highly demanded missions. This year, we are running a 2-week Medical Mission in July 2023, taking 20 Australian students over to the Rural Philippines.
