Event description

Two-part workshop series! Part 1 is held on August 9th with Part 2 held on August 16th. Ticket includes access to both sessions.

Where is the Montessori 6-12 writing sequence? This workshop will help spark your students' interest in writing and provide a framework for 6-12 Montessori educators to foster a rich writing environment in their classrooms.

Initially, we will explore Montessori philosophy and practice pertaining to the 6-12 Language Curriculum. We will dispel outdated thoughts we hold as adults regarding teaching these skills and the various levels or milestones the child 'should' be at, or have reached, by a particular time. Then we will examine the steps to help you 'Follow the Child' in their writing.

Finally, we will review a range of presentations to help you, the Prepared Adult, feel empowered to guide your students to become engaged, active and purposeful writers. We will explore the role of modelled and shared writing, the introduction of genres, how to assess writing in a Montessori classroom, and how to support reluctant writers and students who need additional assistance.
This event is for Montessori 6-12 educators and will be delivered in two parts.
Part 1 is held on August 9th with Part 2 held on August 16th. Ticket includes access to both sessions.

About Hali

Hali was introduced to Montessori Philosophy and Pedagogy when her four children were educated at Montessori Schools in Sydney and Melbourne. She started her working life as a medical doctor with an interest in Public Health and Preventative Medicine. A move interstate gave her a chance to rethink her career and as she had grown very interested in Montessori it was a chance to make a very easy transition to teaching. After achieving a Montessori Institute Graduate Diploma (6-12 years) she worked as a Cycle 3 teacher, then as a Curriculum Coordinator and with students with additional learning needs. Hali is currently completing a Master's in Education Policy and is also a Montessori Institute examiner and tutor.
