Description

Join us for our free Halloween glassblowing demonstration with artist Jacqueline Knight, working live in the Glassworks Hotshop!

Jacqueline will be creating her iconic blown pumpkins, exploring movement and different ways to add fun colors. As she works at the furnace, the session will be accompanied by live interpretation, offering insight into the tools, techniques, and stages involved in shaping molten glass.

This demonstration provides an opportunity to observe contemporary glass practice in action within an active studio environment, revealing the timing, skill, and creativity behind the finished work.

A free community event perfect for kids and families. Our MC will be speaking from 12pm - 1pm, explaining glassblowing techniques and answering questions.

RSVP is not required however it does give us an indication of numbers.

Halloween Exclusive: Ghostly Glass (Paid Workshop)

Jump into the spookiest day of the year at Canberra Glassworks! In this haunted, hands-on workshop, creators will design and assemble their very own cackling witch, mumbling Mummy, or ghouls, ghosts and goblins of choice. Using colourful pieces of glass, and with the help of our expert artists, each tricky masterpiece will be carefully fired in our kilns to glue and fuse them together to last forever! Book here

About the artist: Jacqueline Knight

Jacqueline Knight is a highly skilled glass maker with over 25 years’ experience. Her studio, Sodalime Studio, specialises in small-run, limited edition pieces designed with a bright aesthetic and an ease of functionality. She has a Masters in Glass from Alfred University, NY, undergrad from the A.N.U. and a Design-Associateship from the JamFactory in Adelaide and has spent many years both working and teaching creative glass across the US. Jacqueline has since moved back to her hometown Canberra where she is Director of Production and Commissions at the Canberra Glassworks.
