Sun, 1 Jun, 2pm - 4pm AEST

Event description

Join Samer for a handmade filigree workshop based on his Syrian-influenced artistic practice. A technique traditionally used to make fences, chandeliers, jewellery and door handles, Samer has taken filigree to create ornate artworks which are currently displayed at Pari as part of the exhibition, Shape-shifting.

Learn how to shape a flower using recycled electric wiring and your hands to flatten, join and twist the material into various shapes. Samer is keen to see you all at the workshop and hear your ideas and experiences that shape how we imagine and create. Spots are limited!

Samer Almansour is a mid-career artist who moved to Australia as a refugee. His artistic practice has taken a pause in order for him to focus on providing for his family. His exhibited works at Pari are part of his Australian debut and an opportunity for him to relieve stress. Pari is currently displaying his series of work, The Coffin of Secrets as part of our exhibition, Shape-shifting, which closes on 8 June 2024.
