Handmade Holidays on the River: Gifts that Give Back
Description
This holiday season, join the Elizabeth River Project for Handmade Holidays on the River, a festive celebration of creativity, community, and more sustainable ways to give. The holidays are a season for giving, but meaningful gifts don't have to come with a lot of waste. Spend the day at the Ryan Resilience Lab exploring creative ways to rethink your holiday shopping, from making -one-of-a-kind gifts with local community partners to learning simple ways to wrap, resuse, and celebrate more sustainably.
Throughout the event, guests can get hands-on with holiday gift-making activities, create sustainable wrapping paper, and discover new ways to give everyday materials a second life. Shop for thoughtful gifts from local makers, businesses, and community partners whose work reflects a shared commitment to creativity, sustainability, and the Elizabeth River.
Whether you come to make something for someone you love, find a unque gift from a local maker, or simply enjoy a festive day by the river, you'll leave with ideas for making this holiday season a little more meaningful and a lot kinder to our river!
Activites will include:
- Hands-on sustainable and upcycled gift-making with community partners including 757 Creative ReUse Center, Eleanor's Bookstore, and Studio Kuumba
- Sustainable holiday wrapping ad creative reuse activities
- Ideas and inspiration for reducing waste during the holiday season
Plus, arrive early for an optional tour of the Ryan Resilience Lab at 11:00am.
