    Event description

Bendigo debut for a very special artist...

The 2021 release of debut solo LP No Light Without Shade, has seen Hannah Acfield truly find her musical path. A sense of freedom, of power and fluidity, define a record dubbed a “masterpiece” (Francesca de Valence – I Heart Songwriting Club) and a “triumph of talent” (Phil Stafford, The Australian); a record with which Acfield moves beyond the folk demesne that defined her early career, and into a new realm that is hers and hers alone, her otherworldly voice and poignant writing heralding the arrival of an Australian singer-songwriter of serious note.

A warm and engaging performer, Hannah is touring the album solo throughout June/July to celebrate the release.

"A beautiful voice" – Joan Armatrading

"An excellent album" – Neil Rogers, Triple R

    *With support: Rough River (Solo)
Rough River is the musical project of folk and alternative country singer-songwriter Kate Skinner; her work quietly aching with tales of love gone by and a yearning for the natural world.
Kate is a recent, and very welcome, addition to the Bendigo music community and we look forward to her making her Old Church debut when she opens for Hannah Acfield this June!

See you Saturday 11 June 2022 - doors open at 7pm for a 7:30pm start.

    About the venue:

The Old Church on the Hill is located on the corner of Harkness and Russell Streets, Quarry Hill, Bendigo.

The Singer/Songwriter Showcase events, staged at the Old Church by the Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival crew on a semi-regular basis, are an opportunity to enjoy a House Concert vibe in a public venue. The door charge is kept as low as possible to ensure accessibility to all. Under 12s free and, although drinks are available for sale, the focus is on THE MUSIC. If your conversation is more important to you than other people’s enjoyment of the artists’ performance, please take it outside. (Thanks.)

Proceeds from drink sales go to supporting the Old Church crew and their many worthy initiatives.

We look forward to your company for an intimate concert experience like you’ve likely never experienced before.
