Hard Rubbish 'Distort it' Single Launch W/ Planet Pain, Wriding, Tom Katsaras (Twine) & Ricky Albeck
Event description
From the creative mind of Jason Katsaras (Dead Roo/Big Town) comes Hard Rubbish, a project that channels a spectrum of influences and emotions into a compelling new sound.
This Australian collective boasts a rich musical pedigree, featuring a rotating assortment of members from state to state, Hard Rubbish has already featured members from Adelaide's Colourblind, Horror My Friend, Junk Harmony, and Ricky Albeck and The Belair Line Band.
Hard Rubbish crafts songs that tap into the raw nerve of personal experience, exploring the familiar landscapes of lost love and the universal yearning for belonging.
Building on the momentum of his earlier singles ‘16 Walls’ and ‘Something’, Katsaras is poised to release his most introspective offering yet, Distort It’.
A compelling four-minute journey into the inner world during a period of relational uncertainty and self anullment against the backdrop and solitude of regional New South Wales.
Collaborating with Richard Bowers [Horror My Friend, Jess Johns], the band recorded the track in the unvarnished atmosphere of the Soundpark studios rehearsal room in Melbourne, capturing their raw immediate sound.
Joining Hard Rubbish on this special performance is Planet Pain who will bring their enthralling alt country heart-on-sleeve songwriting courtesy of former Rat!hammock frontman Jackson Phelan.
Another new Naarm outfit Wriding will also play their second ever show at the bowls club - their debut performance was warmly received by punters last month, with the group bringing their 'dirtgaze slowcore' to the bowling green for the first time!
Leading Twine, Katsaras's brother and frontman Tom Katsaras will also play on the fourth - Twine's immitable rise to prominence in the Australian music landscape in the last twelve months have been a source of inspiration for anyone with ears and spirit, with Tom set to play a set of songs from the group's debut LP 'New Old Horse' released independently last year.
Also gracing the halls will be Alt-Country hero Ricky Albeck, a musical force of nature both in his native South Australia and Victoria, Albeck's heart on sleeve songwriting has been another well of inspiration and support to Katsaras, and he never disappoints. Albeck seamlessly slips between persona's as a vanguard of new frontier alt-country and rock and a dulcet voice of traditional folk and rock thought lost to the likes of Van Zandt and Young.
