Hard-to-Recycle Items Drop-off Day

Got old clothes, linens, soft plastics, unwanted electronics, cardboard, or polystyrene cluttering your home? The City of Casey's annual recycling event is back! We are partnering with UPPAREL, Ewastec, APR Recycling, and Foamex to make recycling your household items easy.

🎉 NEW THIS YEAR: We've listened to your feedback and are excited to include cardboard and polystyrene in our recycling list.
⚠️ Please note: This event is exclusively for City of Casey residents and for household quantities only. Businesses and large volumes cannot be accepted.

How it Works:

1. Book Your Time: Secure a FREE half-hour timeslot between 9:00 am and 2:30 pm. Only one ticket is needed per car.

2. Sort Your Items: Carefully separate your CLEAN and DRY items into each category in labelled bags or boxes where possible:

   • TEXTILES

   • E-WASTE

   • SOFT PLASTICS (in a bag)

   • CARDBOARD (in a box)

   • POLYSTYRENE

   For ease of handling, please avoid using very large, heavy bags.

3. Drive Through & Drop Off: Stay in your vehicle and follow the directions of our friendly staff. You can attend any time during your booked slot. 

TEXTILES (Recycled by Upparel)

• Must be CLEAN and DRY (stained is okay if clean).

• If your clothes or linens are worn, torn, or stained, but are clean, recycle them here. This event is for textiles that are not suitable for gifting or donation at the opp shop.

Disposing of Unaccepted Textiles: Small items can go in your general waste bin. Larger items can be included in your twice-yearly booked hard rubbish collection.

ELECTRONIC WASTE / E-WASTE (Recycled by Ewastec)

• Please ensure all removable batteries are taken out before dropping off. Household batteries can be recycled at your local supermarket's battery bin.

E-WASTE LIST FOR RECYCLING (please group and label "E-WASTE")

Alternative Recycling Options: Book a hard rubbish collection. Search our online waste directory or the Bin It Right Casey app for guidance on specific items. 

SOFT PLASTICS (Recycled by APR Recycling)

• Must be CLEAN and DRY.

SOFT PLASTICS LIST FOR RECYCLING (please put in plastic bag and label "SOFT PLASTICS")

Alternative Recycling Options: Clean and dry soft plastics can be taken to participating Woolworths stores and Hampton Park Outlook Transfer Station.

Disposing of Unaccepted Soft Plastics: Please use your general rubbish bin.

CARDBOARD (Recycled by APR Recycling)

• Must be CLEAN and DRY.

• Box tape is OK in small amounts, as long as the item is still mostly cardboard.

CARDBOARD LIST FOR RECYCLING (please group or put in box and label "CARDBOARD")

Alternative Recycling Options: Clean and dry cardboard can go into your recycling bin. Larger amounts are accepted for free at Hampton Park Outlook Transfer Station or can be included in your twice-yearly booked hard rubbish collection (flattened and bundled).

Disposing of Unaccepted Cardboard: Please use your general rubbish bin.

EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE (Recycled by Foamex)

• Must be CLEAN and DRY

• Only expanded polystyrene (EPS) is accepted (these are bulky, white and rigid)

• Press it and if it dents or springs back without breaking, it is NOT EPS and not accepted.

Alternative Recycling/Disposal Options:

• Clean and dry polystyrene can be dropped off at Polyfoam Dandenong. Please check opening hours.

• Small amounts of polystyrene can be disposed of in your general rubbish bin.

• Large amounts of polystyrene can be included in your twice-yearly booked hard rubbish collection (please box to ensure it does not fly away).
