Moving for a future without homelessness
Join us at our Winter Walk for Homelessness on Sunday 2nd August 2026! Haven Home Safe is hosting this community walk to raise vital funds while advocating for an end to homelessness in the Bendigo community.
The Winter Walk will take place at Lake Weeroona the morning of Sunday 2nd August at 9:30am to mark the beginning of Homelessness Week 2026.
Join us as we amplify the voices of the organisations working on the front line of homelessness throughout the walk and advocate for an end to homelessness in our community. Let’s move together to raise awareness, inspires action and get closer to a future where everyone has a place to call home.
This is an inclusive event. We welcome participants of all ages and abilities to walk, roll or take part in a way that works for them.
Please ensure everyone attending is registered so we can manage event attendance numbers.
Details
Registration fee - $25 per person. All funds raised will go towards Haven Home Safe.
Distance - we will do 3 laps of the lake - 4.5kms, you're invited to join us for as many laps as you can.
There is street parking available.
Please arrive at 9am ready for a 9:30am start.

- Where should I park?
There are designated parking spots around the lake and there is also street parking available. Please obey parking signs.
- What do I get as part of my registration?
This is a fundraising event so by registering you are helping to support Haven Home Safe’s work. By attending this event, you are showing up for the Bendigo community and helping us to send a powerful message: no one should face homelessness alone.
- Do I get a race bib and is the event timed?
No, this is a fun community walk so there is no official timing.
- Will there be water stations?
No, as this is intended to be a leisurely community walk, there will be no water stations. You’re welcome to bring along a drink bottle or warm drink to help stay hydrated.
- If I cannot make it, can I get a refund?
Registrations are non-refundable, if the event is cancelled or postponed (for any reason) the event organisers will be in touch.
- Is this event for the whole family?
Yes, people of all ages are invited to come along and show their support. Please leave bikes, scooters and pets at home (if you can), the track is narrow and these can cause tripping hazards.
- Will the event go ahead if it is raining?
Yes, event will go ahead if it’s raining. We will only look at cancelling or postponing the event if there are severe weather warnings and it is unsafe for people to be out.
- Any other tips for making it a great day?
When you’re walking as part of the event, please be mindful of other people out enjoying Lake Weeroona. Smile, make new friends and ask any questions you have about homelessness in Bendigo and how we can work together to support people.
