Haystack Mountain Hermits + George Teasdell duo
Description
Blistering bluegrass, beautiful ballads, and brutal family banter - Haystack Mountain Hermits are an award-winning bluegrass-folk family band known for exceptional musicianship, blood harmonies, and storytelling with heart and humour. People’s Choice and Artist of the Year finalists in the Australian Folk Music Awards and the Gold Coast Music Awards, they’re festival favourites nationwide. They deliver raw, old-time energy with a fresh acoustic edge. With their latest EP Homemade Jam, Haystack Mountain Hermits reimagine traditional favourites through close harmonies, dynamic interplay, and a distinctly Australian acoustic lens - warm, lively, and just a little mischievous.
Mandolinist George Teasdell and double bassist Harry Young first met playing a fiddle tune backstage in the middle of their classical performance degrees at the Sydney Conservatorium. Since then, George (of Charley Castle & the Boys in the Well) and Harry (of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra) have been writing, arranging, and goodness knows practising, chamber folk music in the style of Punch Brothers, Gabriel Kahane and Bon Iver. They endeavour to someday bridge the gap between tiny, high-pitched instruments and oversized room-shaking instruments everywhere.
