HCAA October 2026 Newcastle General Meeting

Our HCAA Newcastle October 2026 General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 21 October 2026, commencing 6.30pm at Merewether Surfhouse, Newcastle.

6pm: Doors open

6:30pm sharp: General Meeting starts - welcome (Shaun Wallace) and HCAA update

6.50pm: General Meeting closes

7pm-7.20pm

Presenter: Peter George and Paul McKoy, Singleton Council

Topic: Representatives from Singleton Council will provide an industry update.

7.50pm-8.10pm

Presenter: FRNSW

Topic: Pre Occupation Inspections

Representatives from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) will provide a brief overview of the pre-occupation inspection process, with a focus on fire-related issues commonly identified during these inspections.

8.10-8.30pm

Presenter: Panel Discussion

Topic: Pre Occupation Inspections

Following the presentation, the FRNSW representatives will be joined by Nathan Wallace, Registered Certifier at Buildcert, and Shane Edmonds, Director at Affinity Fire Engineering, for a panel discussion.

The discussion will bring together the perspectives of FRNSW, private certification and fire engineering, with the aim of providing practical insights into common issues encountered during the pre-occupation inspection and approval process.

9pm: Meeting closes, followed by socialising
