Purpose: 

The purpose of this panel forum is to improve the understanding, recognition, and support of the use of interpreters and translated materials in healthcare.

Objectives:

  • Inform health care staff, consumer representatives, GPs and other health related representatives about the role and function of NAATI and interpreters in healthcare

  • Provide an opportunity for interpreters to speak about their experiences working with patients and care providers

  • Encourage ongoing dialogue, learning and understanding between healthcare providers, community members and those who provide interpreter services in healthcare settings

  • Policy Professionals who will speak to building Interpreter Policies and standards

  • Professionals who work within the community and directly with consumers
