Event description

Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) are an important tool for health services to capture safety and quality data from the perspective of the patient (us!). In short, PROMs are standardised questionnaires and are essential to making hospitals and all our health services a safer and better place to be. Consumers, Carers, and Lived Experience Representatives have an important role to play in how PROMs are designed, implemented and interpreted.

This session will be hosted by Dr Lesley Millar and Dr Angela Ives who have a wealth of experience on the topic. Lesley and Angela are part of the Continuous Improvement in Care - Cancer Project, a research program which identifies best practice and works with health services and other researchers to improve cancer care.

This 2-hour learning session will introduce the basics of PROMs and explore:

  • Why PROMs are essential to improving the safety and quality of our health services
  • How to use PROMs in a consumer, carer or lived experience representative role
  • How PROMs are developed and how we can be involved in shaping them

This session is tailored for consumer, carer and lived experience representatives. Health Service staff are also welcome to participate and learn.

Places are limited, consumer payment is not available for attending this session.
