    Event description

Health Consumers' Council WA was launched by the Minister for Health in 1994 as an independent voice for the community on health policy, planning and decision making and to provide a recognised presence for health consumers. Since then, we have championed and supported thousands of people to assert their rights and have their say on health.

There have been many successes, including the fact that consumer and community voices are now present in many spaces that they were not 30 years ago.

But there is much more to be done which will need people power and consumer leadership.

In 2024, our 30th anniversary year, we are renewing our commitment to ensuring a strong presence for consumers and community members in all decisions relating to the health of Western Australians.

In this session, join fellow HCC members, consumer representatives and the HCC team to explore how to build and harness people power to give positive change in health:

    • Launch of HCC's revised strategy building on our strong legacy of grassroots action and consumer networks
    • Overview of major reforms in State and Federal health - and opportunities for WA consumers to be involved
    • Share what's important to you, your community and your networks in health
    • Meet others who share your passion for positive change
    • Sign up to get involved in advocating for change at a system level

Tickets are free. You will be offered the chance to make a donation - all funds generated go to support HCC's work championing consumer rights in health.

We have done some fundraising which means we can offer a number of consumer participation payments for this workshop to support the participation of people who may not otherwise be able to participate - if you would like to receive a payment, please select this option at registration.

This session will be held online via Zoom and in person at Mount Lawley. Light refreshments will be served for those people attending in person.

If you have any questions about this event, please contact us at info@hconc.org.au or call 08 9221 3422

We're looking forward to an interesting discussion.
