Event description

Join the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area (HCWHA) on Tuesday, April 29 from 2:45-4:45 pm for an in-person viewing and discussion of the American Association of State and Local History's (AASLH) webinar on "Working with Tourism Organizations." This in-person session's fee ($25 for AASLH members, $45 for non-members), will be covered by the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area. If you aren't able to attend the in-person event, you can register on your own to view the webinar at https://learn.aaslh.org/products/working-with-tourism-organizations-live-webinar.

About the program: Heritage and cultural tourism consultant Heidi Schlag and Visit Frederick’s Sr. Marketing Manager Jake Wynn will explore how museums can work with their local Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) to attract more visitors, increase visibility, and strengthen community connections. Learn how to leverage DMO resources like marketing, PR, social media, and itinerary development to make your site a key part of your region’s tourism strategy. If you’ve ever struggled to get your museum noticed by visitors or wished you had more support in promoting your programs and exhibits, this webinar will provide practical strategies to help you forge meaningful partnerships and bring more people through your doors.

The webinar viewing hosted by the HCWHA will be located at the Frederick Visitor Center (151 East St, Frederick, MD 21701). If you plan to attend, please park in the E. All Saints Street Garage.
