    This event has passed Register

    Event description

Research indicates that early childhood years are critical in fostering the development of social and emotional competencies in children. During these formative years, children are not only absorbing cognitive skills but are also actively navigating the intricacies of social interactions and emotional experiences. The early childhood environment, including whānau, caregivers, and early education settings, significantly influences the acquisition of social and emotional competencies. This workshop explores the He Māpuna te Tamaiti resource, highlighting the main themes of children's social and emotional development, intentional teaching, and positively reframing behaviour.

    This workshop will:

    • explore social and emotional learning strategies within He Māpuna te Tamaiti
    • unpack the positive reframing of behaviour
    • investigate the kaiako role in supporting social and emotional learning
    • demonstrate the use of He Māpuna te Tamaiti in your daily practice, drawing on the self-assessment tool and the intentional teaching practice cards.

Together, let's enhance a better understanding of the social-emotional needs of our youngest learners to foster resilient, empathetic tamariki ready to navigate the complexities of life with confidence and compassion.
