WHO WE ARE:

Kia ora e te whānau,

Thank you for coming on here to supporting our kura and our tamariki!

Te Whānau Awahou is a dual immersion Te Reo Māori unit within Te Uru Karaka Newton Central School, guided by kaupapa Māori principles, practices and pedagogy. Our tamariki experience daily interaction in Te Reo Māori, and this commitment to speaking, to keeping our reo alive, enriches their lives, the lives of our whānau, and the lives of the wider community.

Kia kaha te reo Māori!

Over the next two years we are fundraising for Noho Marae, whanaungatanga, ako and other tamariki/whānau activities.

Our next noho marae is scheduled for 2026. To stay on a marae, and participate in the daily life, from the pōwhiri, to the kīhini, to the echoing snores from the next-mattress-neighbour, is a taonga we want to provide for our tamariki. Travel, accommodation and kai adds up to a hefty expense that we need to find the pūtea for.

We need to earn $25000 this year to reach our fundraising goal. That is where you come in and we and our tamariki are very grateful for your support!

Ngā mihi nui,

Te Whānau Āwahou mātua
